Viewing and Borrowing Items

We have items from Japan and overseas available at the Library, including magazines, newspapers, books, children’s books, as well as materials related to study-abroad, language study and international exchange matters. Please feel free to view any of the items.

You can also check out books from the Library.

Checking out
  • You need a Library Card to check out any items.
  • To apply for a card, you will need to provide a personal ID (drivers’ license, student’s card, health insurance card, etc.).
  • Please bring the item(s) and your Library Card to the counter.
  • You can borrow up to 3 items at a time. Books can be borrowed for 2 weeks and magazines can be borrowed for 1 week.
  • The latest issue of magazines is available for viewing only and you cannot check out such items.

Internet Corner

  • Each person can use the internet for up to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Please reserve a computer by writing your name and the time you would like to use the internet on the reservation sheet at the counter.
  • We do not accept any reservation by phone or reservation made before the day of usage.
  • This is a free service.
  • Printers are NOT available for public use.

Copy Services

  • Copy services are available for any items owned by the Library; we do not offer copy services to items brought in by individuals.
  • For black and white copies: ¥10/page; for color copies: ¥100/page

Video Corner

  • All videos in the International Information Library are available for public viewing. Please go to the counter and borrow a pair of headsets when using the equipment.
  • You can bring in videos for view; but the VCRs in the Library only support those in the PAL format*.

*The PAL format is a color encoding system used in televisions in China and Europe (Germany, Italy, etc.). Common VCRs sold in Japan do not support the PAL format.
