Please take the following precautions in order to protect yourself from getting infected by the new type of influenza (H1N1-Swine Flu):
Transmission of Influenza A (H1N1)
You can catch Influenza A (H1N1) just like any other flu virus.
You can be infected if you inhaled the Influenza A (H1N1) virus found in saliva and droplets that are expelled by coughing and sneezing.
Preventive Measures
Measures that you should take to protect yourself from catching Influenza A (H1N1) are the same as those for seasonal influenza:
Wash your hands & Gargle
** please wash your hands thoroughly with soap and running water for over 15 seconds
Have good eating habits and adequate sleep
For those who show influenza-like symptoms, please stay at home if possible; and if you must go outside, please remember to wear a mask.
Manners regarding Coughing
When you cough or sneeze, please remember the following manners:
Please cover your mouth and nose with tissue, face away and if possible, make sure nobody was within 1m around you when you cough/sneeze.
Please throw away tissues containing droplets from sneezing/coughing into garbage cans with covers.
If you are sick and are coughing, please wear a mask to avoid spreading infection. Please read the instructions carefully and make sure you are wearing the mask correctly.
